Duxbury cocaptain Rachel Myette knows how to lead by example. The Duxbury goalie�s stellar performance helped propel the Green Dragons to their third straight Division 2 girls hockey state championship Sunday with a 1-0 victory over Falmouth at TD Garden. �Falmouth is a really good team and we knew they would come out with fire in their hearts and we had to want it more,�� said Myette. �We were shaky in the first period but we got it under our belts and we got through.�� It marked the second straight season Duxbury has ended Falmouth�s hopes in the championship game. Myette collected 21 saves to complete a perfect tournament run and extend her shutout string to seven games. The junior, whom coach Friend Weiler regards as one of the state�s best, was last scored upon Feb. 16 in Duxbury�s 6-3 win over Walpole. She has a sterling goals-against average of 0.79. �I�ve never let up a goal in the playoffs so it�s a big accomplishment on my part,�� said Myette. �I wanted to get the seven shutouts to get 11 total to beat my freshman record [of nine].� Myette collected 14 saves in last year�s 3-1 state final victory over Falmouth. Liz Collins scored the only goal, connecting on an unassisted breakaway at 12:22 of the second period. �Liz Collins definitely stepped up and saw the goalie had already committed to the first save and she shot it at an open spot while the goalie was recovering from the first,� said Myette. Falmouth received an outstanding performance from Madison Scavotto (30 saves). The Green Dragons outshot the Clippers, 31-21. Falmouth was 0 for 3 on the power play. Duxbury ends the season at 22-1-2 and is 65-4-3 the past three seasons. Falmouth ends it season at 19-2-2. Falmouth was the only team to beat Duxbury in the regular season, ending a 34-game unbeaten streak. �Our goaltending was awesome,�� said Duxbury senior forward Hannah Murphy, who earlier this year passed the 200-point career mark. �Rachel was amazing and kept us in there and was phenomenal. I�m proud of my team and happy to be a part of the three-peat.��
