Ian Strom struck out seven and gave up just one hit over four scoreless innings and the host Blue Raiders amassed 21 hits to win their opener in a mercy-shortened five innings. Strom was 3 for 5 with two RBIs, Dan Mantoni was 3 for 3 with two triple, a double, three runs and five RBIs and Chris Embree was 3 for 4 with four RBIs for Hopedale, which scored 12 runs in the first inning. Osmani Torres was 2 for 3 with a two-run single in the fifth for the Polar Bears (1-2).
