The 11th-seeded Eagles (12-10) scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings off Beavers ace Dan Avery, while posting the win over second-seeded Valley Tech (17-6). The Eagles face No. 3 Auburn at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hudson High. Matt Kachadoorian (2 for 3) hit an RBI double to give Worcester Tech the early lead. The Beavers answered with a run in the bottom of the first, but the Eagles took the lead for good in the third when Vinny Dinsdale doubled and scored. The Eagles went ahead, 3-1, in the fourth when Miguel Veras singled, went to third on a base hit by Brendan Matthews and scored on a fielder's choice. Worcester Tech's Colin Fitzgerald avenged a 1-0 early-season loss to Avery and Valley Tech, allowing just two runs yesterday (one unearned) on three hits and no walks while striking out 10. Valley Tech pulled within a run on a two-out RBI double by Jared Vadenais, but could not push the tying run across.
