It was the unstoppable force against the immovable object Friday as high-flying No. 3 seed Doherty High traveled to play at top-seeded Shepherd Hill and its mauling double-wing offense in the Central Mass. Division 4 final, a matchup of powerhouses that has seemed destined from the start of the season. The host Rams went ahead by eight with five minutes gone in the second half and held the lead until 23 seconds remained, when senior quarterback Luke Brennan connected with his best friend, Boston College-bound Isaac Yiadom, to deliver Doherty its first Central Mass. title since 1980 with a 32-28 victory in Dudley. “I just saw him wide open, and I just lobbed it to him,” said Brennan, who scrambled right and threw across the field to the left pylon. “There was nobody near him, and it was just amazing. I saw him and I was like ‘We just did it!’” Doherty (9-1) moves on to face Western Mass. champion Wahconah next Saturday at Doyle Field in Leominster.
