BOYS’ SOCCER

Sutton 2, Hopkins 0

Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Sutton

LUNENBURG – On a wintery night suited for ice fishing, at least one area fall tradition was alive and well. The Sutton High boys’ soccer team, one of the area’s true high school sports dynasties, made what has become its annual trip to a state semifinal game, and again made it count. The Sammies, three-time defending Central Mass. champions and two-time defending state champions, defeated Western Mass. champion Hopkins Academy, 2-0, in a Division 4 state semifinal at Lunenburg High. Sutton (18-0-4) will face Eastern Mass. champion Cohasset at 12:30 Saturday at Worcester State for the state title. Hopkins Academy finished (16-2-1).
