Junior forward Justin Bowker had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Mountaineers (14-5, 8-2), who clinched a share of the Midland A title with a victory over the visiting Tomahawks (6-13, 3-7). Leading by just a point at the half, 26-25, 6-foot-8 junior Kevin Durkin (8 points) sparked a strong defensive effort by the home team in the second half with five blocks after the break. Brian Quinn (14 points, 5 assists) and Tyler Dion (11) rounded out the high scorers for Wachusett. Algonquin got a game-high 18 points from Tim Armata while Mike Stamas chipped in with 14 points. It was the third straight league title for the Moutaineers, who close out their season against Brockton on Thursday.
