Sophomore Adham Floyd had 19 points and T.J. Kelley added 13 points as the No. 2 Pioneers captured their 20th Division 1 Central Mass. title with a win over the No. 5 Panthers at WPI. St. John's will play in a state semifinal on Tuesday at a time to be determined. Marcus Giese had 17 points for Franklin, while Chris Rodgers had 10 points - all in the first half. The game was tied, 48-48 with 2:47 left but St. John's ended the game on an 8-0 run, highlighted by four free throws from Stefan Masciarelli and buckets from Kelley and Floyd to put the game away. Davon Jones also had a key steal on a pass to Rodgers with time winding down, starting a sequence that saw the Franklin bench whistled for a technical foul that set up Masciarelli to seal it.
