Miles Massidda, P.J. Dupre and Ryan McCarthy scored and Ryan Twomey made 23 saves as the top-seeded Patriots (18-3-2) edged the second-seeded Blue Knights (16-3-4) in the Central Division 3A championship game at the Wallace Civic Center. North Middlesex will play Wahconah in a state semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the MassMutual Center in Springfield. The Patriots led 2-0 after one period on late goals by Massidda (11:47) and Dupre (14:14). Lunenburg got a goal from Kevin Cowdrey at 12:46 of the second period to pull within one, 2-1. McCarthy scored the winner at 9:04 of the third period, with Dan Baldino scoring for the Blue Knights at 11:53.
