David Murrell dumped in a game-high 23 points to lift the Beavers (24-0) over the Pioneers (21-5) in a Division 1 state semifinal at the MassMutual Center in Springfield. Putnam faces Eastern Mass. champ Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the DCU Center for the state crown. Charlie Murray paced St. John's with 9 points, and Alex Fisher and Nick Lukasevicz added 8 points each.
