Jack Riley struck out 14 and took a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the visiting Guardians topped the Colonials in the opener for both teams. Riley's no-hitter was broken up when Jack Quinlivan hit a flare over second base with one out in the seventh. St. Peter-Marian's Brandon O'Connor grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Pat Gallagher (2 hits) in the third inning to provide the winning run. Riley was 2 for 4 with a double and a single for the Guardians, while teammate Jono Crimmin had two hits. Jeffrey Svendsen had five strikeouts and went the distance for Shrewsbury.
