In a battle of defending state champions, the Cougars (Division I) outlasted the Clippers (Division 2) on the back of sophomore Charlotte Allard, who led all scorers with nine goals and two assists. Junior Lexi Lenaghan added four goals and an assist, while classmate Hanna Cooper made nine saves in goal. Norwell jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before Notre Dame battled back to take a 9-5 lead into halftime. "They were fighting, battling, playing extremely aggressive and incredibly fast," said Notre Dame coach Meredith Frank. "I don't know if we were shell-shocked because it was our first big opponent or what, but credit to them for playing fearlessly. We did a pretty good job responding. "It's an awesome opponent, and was a great learning tool for both teams. It was exactly what we need to better as early on as the season progresses." Notre Dame moves to 5-0 on the season with the win.
