A Back Bay penthouse with a 1,200-square-foot-plus front-facing terrace was one of the most expensive sales in Massachusetts last week, according to the Multiple Listing Service, dropping for $4,700,000 on Sept. 26.

The 2,500-square-foot home — 303 Berkeley St., Unit 9 — has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, three walk-in closets, and two fireplaces. There is direct elevator access.

The highpoint of the property, literally and figuratively, is the front-facing terrace, which is accessible through two sets of French doors: one in the living room and one in the space the kitchen and family room share. The home, one of nine boutique units, is bathed in natural light; it has three exposures, high ceilings, and skylights.

The kitchen features granite counter tops and high-end appliances.

The sale comes with two garage parking spots and concierge service on weekdays. The property is a short walk from both the Charles River and Public Garden.

The listing agent was Lili Banani of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
