Home of the Week: A three-bedroom Cape has a mudroom fit for diehard organizers
The basement has a laundry setup and a built-in bar. The kitchen has been updated with granite and stainless steel.

To get the true experience of living in this Cape, it’s best to enter from the side door. This entrance opens into a sunny, cubbie-lined mudroom and then into an updated kitchen that reaffirms its position as the heart of every home.
The stainless-steel appliances stand out against cabinetry the color of properly brewed dark coffee. Some have frosted-glass doors. The cabinets run along two walls and stand above speckled beige granite counters and a glass-tile backsplash of beige, white, and brown. An island topped with the same granite is substantial and seats two, but it does not overwhelm the room.
A half wall connects the kitchen to a dining room with a lampshade chandelier and two windows overlooking the front yard — a great way to know when your Sunday dinner guests have arrived.
The house flows past the front door (the formal entry point), and into a living room centered on a red-brick fireplace with a narrow wooden mantel painted white. The deepest corner of the room has a TV shelf.
The master bedroom is in a quiet spot, the rear corner of the first floor. Here there are three windows looking out at the sideyard and backyard.
The bathroom is nestled between the kitchen and the master bedroom. It has a porcelain pedestal sink, waist-high Nantucket bead board, a beige tile floor, and a shower/tub combination with a white subway tile surround. The flooring throughout the rest of the first level and on the second is hardwood.
The stairway to the second floor is at the formal entrance. At the top of the stairs, there’s a bedroom to the left and to the right. One is outfitted as an office with a desk and a futon. Both rooms have two windows, built-in dressers, and storage behind the knee wall.
The basement is a haven for adults; it has a bar with space for a few stools, a television, a couch — and a couch potato. The flooring is carpet. Just off the bar and behind swinging doors is the laundry area. There is also work and utility space.
Outside, the home has a deck accessed via sliders in the mudroom. The house sits on a 0.35-acre lot and has an attached one-car garage.
