Towering above the Public Garden, a renovated Beacon Street penthouse is waiting for new owners to inhabit its 5,703 square feet.

The four-floor unit at 89 Beacon St. contains four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, three half bathrooms, three decks and 20 windows. Shelagh Brennan of Cabot & Company listed the penthouse on Oct. 11 for $16,399,000, and the property is currently contingent.

Although the home was built in 1852, Payne | Collins Design reimagined the architecture and interior for the 21st century with a 2017 revamping that includes quartered, five-inch white oak flooring and Waterworks fixtures throughout. The home’s living room presents lofty ceilings and a Chesney’s fireplace, the dining room comes with a Juliet balcony, and the master suite offers views of Boston’s central public park and has two dressing rooms. On the top floor, a solarium with a wet bar leads to a roof garden that has a soaking tub.

Embellished with Christopher Peacock cabinets and polished nickel hardware, the kitchen provides ample cooking space. White Imperial Danby marble counters, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer, and a Wolf six-burner gas range with a convection oven and custom hood surround the room’s 10-foot island. Plus, an additional Sub-Zero refrigerator and wine cooler in the butler’s pantry allow for extra storage.

Other features of the home include a direct private elevator from the garage to all floors, smart home technology, and garage parking in addition to two gated parking spots.

Alexandra Slote Interiors is behind the interior design, including the unit’s one-of-a-kind artwork from Newbury Street’s Galerie D’Orsay that includes pieces by Carol Grove, Henri Matisse, and Bruno Zupan.
