Standing at 812 square feet, this little oceanfront cottage in Salisbury may be easy to overlook surrounded by its towering neighbors, but the interior offers surprises.

“From the street, it appears to be a very tiny beach home, but when people walk inside, they’re amazed at how it just opens up and extends,” said Christine Masiello of Coldwell Banker Realty in Haverhill, the listing agent for 232 N. End Blvd. The 0.07-acre property is on the market for $739,000.

Stepping through the front door into the kitchen, one can see straight into the living room and through sliders to Salisbury Beach.

The wood ceiling in the kitchen and board-and-batten wainscoting in the living area add a classic beach-cottage feel to the first floor, but the kitchen also offers modern updates such as granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, including a dishwasher.

The bathroom, located on the first floor, surprises with a big walk-in shower. Masiello said it used to be a bedroom. The ceiling and walls are clad in tile, and the shower offers three heads, two benches, and a window. The bath also features a pedestal sink, a tile floor, bead-board wainscoting, open shelving, and a bidet.

The home’s two bedrooms are up a wooden spiral staircase. Each comes with wood ceilings, walls, and floors, as well as skylights that offer views of the stars on clear nights. One of the bedrooms is loft-like; spindles at the bottom part of one wall afford a view of the kitchen below.

The house is fully insulated with electric baseboard heat for those looking to get their beach-fix year-round, and an outdoor shower on the side of the house can keep people from tracking a beach-day’s worth of sand inside during the summer.

For those looking to make an investment, renting is an option. According to Masiello, the current residents rent it for $2,800 a week during the summer and for $1,800 a month during the winter.

The home comes fully furnished, and there is a stacked washer and dryer in a closet on the first floor. Flood insurance is required, and the current owner has a transferable policy that costs between $1,300 and $1,700 a year, Masiello said.

One caveat: Parking is a few doors down.

“This neighborhood is a little quirky with its parking situation,” Masiello said. Years ago, a trolley line ran down the street in front of the homes, she said, and once that line was disassembled, the railroad divvied up the land into rectangles and sold it to the public. “Most landowners purchased the tiny parcels of land in front of their home, but there were some situations where someone else purchased,” Masiello said, which is the case with this home. The cost for the interest in the parking parcel located in front of 146 N. End Blvd. is included with the price of the home, according to Masiello.

The home is the perfect oasis for anyone looking for a serene ocean view, she said. “I tell people the view is just priceless … the sounds and sights of the ocean, you just can’t put a price on that.”

An open house (with on-street parking only) is planned for Saturday, July 31, from 2 to 4 p.m.
