This Savin Hill condo sold for a record-breaking $1,425,000

A Savin Hill condo recently sold for $1,425,000, setting a new record for condo sales in Dorchester, Joe Castro of Coldwell Banker Realty said.

Nestled in the “Over the Bridge” region of Savin Hill, the condo at 186 Grampian Way, Unit 1 edged out the previous record– $1,349,000 for a three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom penthouse at 7 Baker Court in August 2020, according to the Dorchester Reporter.  

The modern, 2,432 square-foot home offers three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and one half bathroom. The floors are engineered hardwood throughout, and the tiled entrances have radiant heat. 

A striking black and white coffered ceiling in the living room pairs well with the chic gas fireplace that’s set into a wood-plank wall. The dining area shares an open floor plan with the kitchen, which has a walk-in pantry, quartz countertops, and a waterfall island. 

The owner bedroom has an en suite bathroom with his and hers closets, a marble tile floor, two vanities each with a sink, and a massive walk-in shower with two shower heads and a soaking tub inside. 

There’s also a 660 square-foot finished basement that isn’t included in the total square footage. A door on this level leads out to the fenced-in patio behind the house. 

In an unprecedented year for home sales in Massachusetts, the new record isn’t shocking. The median price of a single-family home in the state reached an all-time high of $555,000 in June. What Castro believes made this condo a record-breaker is the location and the tasteful design.

“The location is great. Lots of character, great parks close proximity to the T. So you have the urban convenience with more of a suburban feel,” he said.  “And then I think a lot of thought went into the design of the unit and you know, it has a lot of really nice finishes that made it desirable.”
