For the first time in roughly 50 years, this Georgian Revival is on the market.

The property, 34 Paine Ave., is located in the ritzy enclave of Beverly known as Prides Crossing. The massive 34-room estate was listed for $22,000,000 on July 8. Built in the early 20th century, the home offers 11 bedrooms, 11 full bathrooms, and three half bathrooms. The Sarkis Team of Douglas Elliman Real Estate has the listing.

The home is dubbed “Rock Edge” for its placement above a stony shore. It overlooks Beverly Harbor and a private beach with deeded access given to only five families. The home measures 27,313 square feet on a 3-acre lot. Visitors will drive past a carriage house at the gate before setting eyes on the three-story estate with a brick façade and limestone accents.

Rock Edge was most famously owned by the versatile athlete and socialite Eleanora Sears, who acquired the property in 1940. Her time there was even the subject of a book, “Prides Crossing: The Unbridled Life and Impatient Times of Eleanora Sears.”

Inside, the home has been modernized and features impressive molding and a grand total of 14 wood-burning fireplaces — each one decorated with a marble mantel. On the first floor, a living room with floor-to-ceiling windows leads out to a water-facing veranda via French doors. In the starkly white 1,500-square-foot kitchen, there’s enough space for two Italian Carrara marble-topped islands, a butler’s pantry, and a breakfast area. The kitchen connects to a sunroom. This level also hosts a formal dining room, game room, music room, and a study with custom espresso-toned shelves and paneling.

On the second floor, the primary suite supplies ocean views, two walk-in closets, and a marble bathroom. There’s a great room and three more bedrooms on this level, as well as an additional seven on the third floor.
