Parking garage owner wants to build a 24-story office building in the Leather District

The owner of a Leather District parking garage wants to raze it and build a 24-story office building with parking below ground and restaurant and retail space.

Oxford Properties Group, through affiliate 125 Lincoln St. Owner LLC, has filed its initial letter to the Boston Planning & Development Agency notifying officials of the proposed project for 125 Lincoln St., close to Chinatown. At roughly 625,000 square feet, the new development would replace the existing parking garage. There would also be indoor and outdoor public space, the document says.

Right now the garage stands five stories and is 115,625 square feet. It includes retail on the ground floor, plus upper-floor offices, according to the letter.

Oxford, a real estate investment company based in Canada, owns eight other properties in Boston that total 4.5 million square feet of office space, according to its website. It claims to be Boston’s “second-largest landlord.”

“The project will be a dynamic addition to downtown Boston that will revitalize the site,” the letter said.
