Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg is expected to miss approximately eight weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced Wednesday that the 34-year-old veteran is scheduled for a lumbar microdiscectomy on Thursday, September 24. The procedure will be performed by Dr. Louis Jenis at Massachusetts General Hospital, according to the team. Seidenberg is expected to make a full recovery.

Seidenberg joined the Bruins via trade in March 2010, and was a member of the 2011 Stanley Cup champion team. He played all 82 games during the 2014-2015 season.
