Marathon

11 times the Boston Marathon reminded us runners are superheroes

When one of the world’s largest marathons is in your backyard, it can be easy to forget how crazy running 26.2 miles really is.

What was once a feat for elite athletes alone is now within reach for the superhuman among us.

Here’s 11 times when we were reminded how amazing Boston Marathon runners are, and how little our own running shoes have been worn.

1. Getting out of the house on time on a Monday became less of an accomplishment.

2. Meb Keflezighi, the 2014 Boston Marathon champion, didn’t run this year’s marathon, but he still went for a run.

3. When this girl’s marathon sign speaks to you.

4 and 5. #Mondaymotivation has new meaning.

6. Ethiopian Lemi Berhanu Hayle won his fifth marathon at 21 years old, and now we’re all doubting our self-worth

7. Did you know that runners who aren’t considered “elite” still finished in three hours?

8. These survivors defied odds and showed us true love.

9. These guys who carried this dude.

And he wasn’t the only one.

10. This guy who ran the marathon and was also job hunting.

Go! Go! Go! #RunnerNeedsAJob #BostonMarathon #boston2016 #RunBold

11. All the runners who weren’t on the podium, who really still won today.
