The Red Sox will leave the winter meetings with two significant additions to their lineup in Mike Napoli and Shane Victorino. But they also met with another player who would add an even larger presence to their lineup: Josh Hamilton.

Major league sources said the team met with the free agent outfielder on Monday.

The following day, the team agreed to a deal with Victorino to fill one of its outfield vacancies.

Hamilton, the 2010 AL MVP who has spent the last five seasons with the Texas Rangers, is seen as the biggest prize of the free agent market, and will likely command a contract larger than the three-year, $39 million deals the Red Sox bestowed on Victorino and Napoli.
