Notes: Brandon Workman returns to the mound for the Red Sox tonight after serving a six game suspension for throwing at the Rays Evan Longoria… Workman last pitched against the Indians on June 15, giving up two runs in six-plus innings in a 3-2 extra-inning loss to Cleveland… Workman has allowed no more than 3 runs and gone at least 5.0 innings in each of his first eight starts…He joins Boo Ferriss (first 9 starts in 1945) as the only Red Sox to accomplish the feat in the last 100 years… The Yankees batted .167 off Workman in four relief appearances last season… Nuno is 0-3 at Yankee Stadium in seven starts, eight appearances, putting up a 7.09 ERA… The southpaw gave up three homers and five runs in Saturday’s 6-1 loss to the Orioles… Nuno has allowed a major league worst 13 home runs at home… This is the first time Nuno has faced the Red Sox in his career… Mike Carp, on the 15-day DL since June 2 with a fourth metatarsal fracture of his
right foot, is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment as DH in tonight’s Triple-A Pawtucket game against Norfolk (BAL).
