After it had been speculated for much of the day, John Farrell announced Rubby De La Rosa will indeed start for the Red Sox on Wednesday after the Red Sox’ 8-3 loss to the White Sox on Tuesday.

No corresponding roster move was officially announced, although Brandon Workman came out of a closed door meeting with Farrell and GM Ben Cherington after Tuesday’s game and confirmed to the media that he was told he was being optioned to Pawtucket.

Workman’s next start would not come until after the All-Star break, 10 days from now that would allow the Sox to send him down and recall him next week without him actually missing a major league start.
