Reports: Royals No Longer Interested in Jonny Gomes

It looks like the suitor who was reported to have been scouting Jonny Gomes is now out of the running.
According to ESPNBoston.com’s Gordon Edes and ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick, the Kansas City Royals are no longer interested in acquiring the righthanded outfielder from the Red Sox.

#Royals have backed off Jonny Gomes because they want a bat that can play RF. He doesn’t fit that description.

It was reported on July 14 that the Royals were looking at Gomes, as the team is searching for a righthanded bat to add to their lineup. But it appears that they have turned their attention elsewhere due to Gomes being primarily a left fielder.
Gomes is hitting .239 with six home runs and 32 RBIs in 205 at bats this season, seeing time in 77 games.
