The Red Sox are trying to avoid a sweep today against the Seattle Mariners after a 7-3 loss last night at Fenway Park.

Allen Webster will take the mound for the Sox, while right-hander Hisashi Iwakuma (12-6, 2.57 ERA) will be pitching for Seattle.

Notes: Sunday’s game is the last in the Red Sox’ season-long home stand of 11 games. The Sox are 2-8 in the home stand. .. David Ortiz has been one of the bright spots in the Sox’ latest slump. He’s reached base on 18 of his last 22 at-bats and has a .558 OBP since Aug. 9. He is seven RBIs away from his eighth 30-home run, 100-RBI season. .. Since joining the team, Yoenis Cespedes has a team-leading 17 RBIs. .. Webster is looking for his third straight win. Today’s game is his sixth start. In his last start, he didn’t factor into a decision against the Los Angeles Angels after allowing three runs in six innings. He gave up a season-high seven hits in that game.
