Thousands have played, coached or influenced professional baseball since it emerged in the late 18th century, but just 310 have been inducted into its most exclusive club: the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.
With so few players and personnel from the sport’s long history enshrined, even a storied franchise like the Red Sox is going to have some of its greats left out. Whether or not these memorable players ever have their day in Cooperstown, they won’t ever be forgotten in Boston.
