Pablo Sandoval’s belt gives up during an at-bat

Things aren’t getting any easier for Pablo Sandoval.

Not since Rich “El Guapo” Garces has a Red Sox player received as much scrutiny for his girth as Sandoval. That fan fixation isn’t likely to abate after Panda’s belt came undone during Saturday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays. The slugger took a massive cut at a pitch delivered by pitcher R.A. Dickey, and his belt gave way to the torque of the swing.

The buckle’s buckling was the lowlight of Sandoval’s first start for the Red Sox this season. Sandoval went 0-3 with three strikeouts, a walk and an error in the field.
