Bauman, who played a role in identifying Tamerlan Tsarnaev, lost both of his legs during the bombings when he was at the finish line supporting his girlfriend, Erin Hurley, running the race for the first time. He will be played by Gyllenhaal in the Hollywood feature Stronger, based on his autobiographical book with the same title.
Gyllenhaal called Bauman “a triumph in just this unspeakable situation.”
According to Fenway Park’s Twitter account, Monday’s first pitch will make an appearance in the film.
