Red Sox fans wished Jerry Remy luck before cancer surgery

"That was very nice of the Red Sox to do that."

Due to have surgery in his fight against lung cancer, Red Sox TV analyst Jerry Remy was given a spirited send-off by the Fenway faithful on Sunday.

Remy, who was recently diagnosed with cancer for the fifth time, will have surgery on Monday as part of the treatment.

“You’ve been down this road before, but you’re a fighter,” said Remy’s fellow TV commentator, Dave O’Brien.

Dennis Eckersley and Steve Lyons are expected to fill in for Remy during his absence.
