Yep, Joe Buck did see that Globe photo of Andrew Benintendi’s catch during the World Series

"We can just send that to The Globe right now.’’

When the Fox Sports broadcast showed a freeze-frame replay of Red Sox left fielder Andrew Benintendi making a graceful and spectacular catch during the fifth inning of Game 2 of the World Series, play-by-play voice Joe Buck offered a casual suggestion of where it might look good.

“There you go. We can just send that to The Globe right now.’’

As it turned out, Globe photographer Jim Davis had captured the moment himself, just as he always does.

I asked Buck during a conversation Thursday if he ever saw the actual photo.

“In October, I’m about as far away from Twitter as I can be,’’ he said. “But someone sent me the tweet or screengrab that said something like, ‘Hey, @Buck, we got the picture,’ so I was aware.

“I’d praise the photographer for rising to my challenge, of course, but if you think about it, he had the photo before I even brought it up.

“Like most announcers, not that we ever acknowledge it, but we steal half of our information from places like The Boston Globe and put it on our broadcast, so I figure we should give a shout-out when we can.’’
