Watch: Tyler O’Neill crushes home run — and maybe a car windshield — at Fenway Park

Tyler O'Neill now leads all MLB with six home runs this season.

Tyler O’Neill has made plenty of fans already during his short tenure so far with the Red Sox.

Unfortunately, he might have also lost one on Tuesday afternoon — thanks to his league-leading sixth home run of the 2024 season.

The 28-year-old outfielder didn’t waste any time ingratiating himself to the Fenway Park crowd on Tuesday, taking a curveball from Baltimore starter Corbin Burnes and golfing it over the Green Monster for a solo shot in the first inning.

O’Neill’s latest big fly seemed destined for the Mass Pike. Ultimately, it traveled 413 feet before returning from orbit on Lansdowne Street — potentially obliterating a car’s windshield in the process.

You can check out the damage doled out to the car below. It remains unclear if O’Neill’s blast was actually the one that shattered this windshield, as another tweet from a Red Sox fan in attendance said that the damage was due to a home run during batting practice.

O’Neill has been an instant hit so far with the Red Sox, slugging five home runs over Boston’s 10-game road trip out on the West Coast before returning to Fenway. He became the first player in Red Sox history with at least five home runs and a .500 OBP through the team’s first 10 games.

All six of his home runs have been solo shots, with Tuesday’s blast pushing O’Neill past the Dodgers’ Mookie Betts, Angels’ Mike Trout, and Atlanta’s Marcell Ozuna for the MLB lead in dingers.

If he keeps this up, a sponsorship with Giant Glass could be in the cards for the Red Sox’ slugging free-agent pickup.
