Glen Murray has appeared in 1,009 career NHL matches, including 570 in a Boston jersey. Murray was Boston first-round pick in the 1991 draft, scoring in his NHL debut against Quebec on Jan. 28, 1992.
Murray scored 206 of his 337 career goals for the Bruins. Murray appeared in 304 games for Los Angeles and in 135 games for Pittsburgh. The right wing appeared in his 1,000th NHL game on March 16 against Washington, becoming the ninth Bruin to hit the milestone while wearing a Boston jersey.
Murray served as Boston’s alternate captain the last two seasons. In 2006-07, Murray scored 28 goals in 59 games, missing time with a groin injury. In 2007-08, Murray appeared in 63 games, scoring 17 goals. Murray suffered a hip flexor strain in 2007-08 and also injured his ribs in Game 7 of the opening round of the playoffs against Montreal.
Murray, a native of Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, will turn 36 on Nov. 1. Murray would have entered the final season of a four-year contract worth an annual $4.15 million.
