Bruins back on the job

After a day off to bask in Boston warmth (Sunday’s high reached the upper-40s), the Bruins are back on the job this morning here at the Ice Box.

As expected, veteran winger Michael Ryder is not on the ice, after being felled Thursday night by an orbital (facial) fractue. The club has not released any further information, but in many instances orbital bone fractures require surgery. We expect an update on Ryder from coach Claude Julien after the skate.

Rookie winger Blake Wheeler, benched for most of the third period in Saturday’s OT loss to the Flyers, is skating on a trio with David Krejci and Petteri Nokelainen.

Shawn Thornton is skating on the crash-and-bang line with Stephane Yelle and Byron Bitz.

Manny ”No Comment” Fernandez is one net, Tim Thomas in the other.

Considerable time this morning spent on grinding work in the corners.
