Gritty forward Vladimir Sobotka and smooth-skating defenseman Matt Hunwick were returned to Providence (AHL) this morning by the Bruins.
Sobotka, a promising winger still adapting to the NHL game, became expendable now that Michael Ryder, two weeks after surgery to repair multiple fractures to the bridge of his nose, is set to return tonight when the Bruins face the Panthers on Causeway Street.
Hunwick, who showed great promise earlier in the year when the Bruins were more attack-oriented, has been sitting out recently in favor of the more defense-oriented Shane Hnidy.
The Bruins, fresh off back-to-back losses to the Panthers and Lightning, will be looking to pull out of a 1-4-2 tailspin, their worst stretch of a thus far very successful season.
Back to you when we see how coach Claude Julien shapes up his trios at this morning’s skate here at the Vault.
