The Bruins signed QMJHL forward Yannick Riendeau to a three-year, entry-level contract. The 5-foot-11, 178-pound Riendeau led the QMJHL this season with 58 goals and 68 assists while playing for Drummondville.
The 20-year-old Riendeau, who went undrafted, scored 19 points in Drummondville’s sweep of Lewiston and Denis Reul in the first round of the QMJHL playoffs.
Assistant GM Jim Benning’s take on Riendeau: “He is an average skater with high-end offensive instincts. Has good hockey sense, vision, quick release on shot, and from top of circles is very good.”
Benning compared Riendeau’s game to that of Jiri Hudler, the shifty offensive-minded Detroit forward.
