WILMINGTON — The Bruins are trickling out of Ristuccia Arena and headed to Hanscom for their quick flight up north.
Claude Julien said he’s operating under the assumption that Milan Lucic will play tomorrow. Julien wasn’t aware of any disciplinary hearing that had taken place.
Lucic was given a match penalty for high-sticking Maxim Lapierre in last night’s third period. Lucic wasn’t available for comment.
“There’s been nothing done or happened,” said Julien. “I haven’t had a call from anyone. Right now, everything is still up in the air.”
Julien didn’t know why the original call on Lucic (high-sticking, fighting, 10-minute misconduct) was changed to a match penalty.
“I have no idea,” Julien said. “This is something our upper management can take care of. It’s out of my control and out of my hands.”
* If Lucic is ruled ineligible for Game 3, Byron Bitz will be back in the lineup. Bitz would most likely skate on the fourth line with Shawn Thornton and Stephane Yelle. Blake Wheeler would move up into Lucic’s spot and play with David Krejci and Michael Ryder.
* Julien spoke with Matt Hunwick this morning. “I told we were looking forward to seeing him back around the team,” Julien said. “He’s going to spend a couple days in the hospital. He’s feeling better. I told him there are things that are more important in life than a hockey game. It’s taking care of himself. We’re going to do our best to make this playoff series as long as we can so we can give him a chance to come back and participate with us again.”
* Andrew Ference will make the trip.
