Recap: Bruins, 4-2 (Dec. 27)

Second in a series of recaps of every Boston-Carolina game this season.

The Bruins won their seventh straight game by snapping a 2-2 tie in the third period. Marc Savard set up Michael Ryder for the game-winning goal, redeeming himself after a rough night for the No. 1 center.

“It seemed like we had one good shift and three bad ones,” said Savard, who also scored a helper on Chuck Kobasew’s empty-net goal at 19:44. “We just couldn’t get any flow going tonight. Our line, I felt we struggled a lot tonight. We were skating by pucks a lot and not doing the little things. But we picked it up in the third and had a better third period. But we’ve got to be better. That layoff kind of hurt us.”

* Zdeno Chara, matched up against Eric Staal, kept the No. 1 center off the scoreboard.

* Blake Wheeler potted two goals.

* Tim Thomas made 29 stops.
