WILMINGTON — Mark Recchi, most likely headed into his final season as an NHLer, is one of a handful of Bruins on the Ristuccia Arena sheet this morning. Most of the players have opted for a day out of skates in preparation for tomorrow’s off-ice testing.
Recchi is one of several forwards expected to take up the scoring slack of Phil Kessel, who doesn’t appear to have the Bruins in his sights. Recchi hasn’t finalized retiring after this season, but is preparing as if 2009-10 might be his last.
“You go through the year and at the end of the year, you figure it out and go from there,” said Recchi. “I don’t want to say yeah, but you prepare like it is, then at the end of the year, you re-evaluate, see where you stand, see how you’re feeling, and see if you’re willing to commit to doing what you have to do to get in shape again.”
