Morning briefing

OTTAWA — Good morning from snowbound (duh) Scotiabank Place, where the Bruins will face off against the Senators tonight. The Bruins are scheduled to take the ice in short order for their morning skate. Tim Thomas is expected to start between the pipes.

  • No word about extra bodies arriving to replace Patrice Bergeron. Matt Hunwick could see some shifts at forward, which would put Adam McQuaid back in uniform on the back end.
  • The Senators are without Jason Spezza and Daniel Alfredsson.
  • Tom Kowal and Don VanMassenhoven will be the referees. The Bruins weren’t pleased with VanMassenhoven’s performance in Tampa Bay. Darren Gibbs and Dan Schachte will be the linesmen.

UPDATE: All players save for Bergeron are present for the morning skate.
