Bruins acquire rights to Michigan’s Kampfer

The Bruins have made a deal, but it isn’t one that will help them anytime soon.

The team announced via press release Tuesday it has acquired the rights to University of Michigan defenseman Steve Kampfer from the Anaheim Ducks for a conditional fourth-round draft pick.

Kampfer, 21, has played 37 games at Michigan this season, and has two goals, 15 assists and 48 penalty minutes. He was picked by the Ducks in the fourth round of the 2007 draft (93rd overall).

The Bruins have merely acquired the rights to negotiate with Kampfer. The next step would be to iron out a deal.
