‘It’s not Slap Shot’

Amid the buildup for tonight’s grudge match against Matt Cooke and the Penguins, it’s clear that no nonsense will take place once the puck drops.

“It’s not Slap Shot,” said one Bruin.

League disciplinarian Colin Campbell will attend and most likely address each club before the game. Veteran referees Stephen Walkom and Bill McCreary will be watching on the ice.

“Obviously they don’t want this to get out of control,” Julien said. “That’s why they’re here. They’ll certainly keep a close eye on it, including the referees. I think everybody knows that.”

Above all else, the Bruins are only three points ahead of the ninth-place Rangers, who arrive at TD Garden on Sunday. The focus tonight will be on points, not retribution.

“The same people that want revenge are the same people that would probably be upset if we don’t make the playoffs also,” Julien said. “There are ways of dealing with these kinds of things. The No. 1 priority is to win the game. Let’s let the game be played. We can stand here all day and speculate. A lot of times half those things don’t happen. We just better sit back and watch. Whatever happens, happens.”

* Evgeni Malkin (bruised foot) will not play tonight.
