Postgame: Bruins, 2-1

There was little surprise that the future Hall of Famer made an HOF play on the game-winning goal. The puck goes into the corner. Mark Recchi’s shoulder goes into Tim Kennedy. With Kennedy down and out, Recchi wins the puck and gives it to Patrice Bergeron.

Thank you, good night.

“That’s a true assist,” said Andrew Ference of Recchi’s setup. “That’s perfect. Textbook.”

* Vladimir Sobotka and Zdeno Chara led all players with six hits. Sobotka set up the Bruins’ first goal when he heard Dennis Wideman calling for the puck. Wideman blasted a one-timer past Ryan Miller to tie the score.

* Johnny Boychuk threw the hit of the series when he dropped Matt Ellis at the offensive blue line. Boychuk rode the blue line and saw an opportunity to smoke his opponent. “Figured I might as well go and try to hit him,” said Boychuk. “It would have been a two-on-two because our forwards were coming back. Even if I missed him it would have been a two-on-two.”
