Good morning from Prague

About 15 minutes to go here before faceoff, Bruins vs. Coyotes, at the 02 arena.

Today’s referees: Mike Leggo and Bread Meier. And the linesmen: Don Henderson and Jay Sharrers.

We’ll have the lineup scratches for you momentarily.

Still waiting on scratches (league communication lacking in comparison to games in North America).

Bruins will open with their Milan Lucic-David Krejci-Nathan Horton trio. Horton popped in both of Boston’s goals on Saturday in Game 1.

Ilya Bryzgalov back in net for Desert Dawgs.

Thomas in net
Hoping to even the trip, and the season, after Saturday’s tepid effort in a 5-2 loss to the Desert Dogs, the Bruins will make a lineup change and are contemplating some others.

Tim Thomas will handle the net for the Spoked-B’s. Tuukka Rask was very good at times in the season opener, but he also overcompensated a couple of times on post coverage. While generally praising Rask for his efforts, coach Claude Julien also said that the move to Thomas in Game 2 was an easy choice to make. He feels he has a pair of No. 1 goalies and he won’t hesitate to use either.

Caron likely to suit up

Julien is contemplating giving Jordan Caron his first NHL game. Caron skated in the Saturday warmups but was sitting int he press box come game time. If Caron gets the go, he’ll likely sub out Danny Paille. Truth is, based on some very soft efforts among Boston’s forwards in Game 1, he could sub for at least a handful of guys.

Ference a question mark

The oft- injured Andrew Ference is battling a niggling injury again, not related to his his chronic groin/abdomen issues, according to Julien. If Ference is out, look for Adam McQuaid, the only spare defenseman to get the call. Julien could opt to dress only five defensemen, and instead go with 13 forwards, but he’s more likely to roll in McQuaid if Ference must sit.

More morning notes to come. Check back before puck drop.

A heart beat in Hub

Word in Hub is that Fluto ”Hacksaw” Shinzawa is racing his 10-speed along the Esplanade this morning for his annual aerobic workout. Not unlike the annual turning around of Old Ironsides in Charlestown.
