WILMINGTON — The Bruins are going through their second practice of the week as they prepare for Saturday’s tilt against New Jersey. The Devils finally scored a win last night when Ilya Kovalchuk slammed home an overtime winner. Martin Brodeur earned yet another shutout.
All players are present today, with Andrew Ference and Dennis Seidenberg both participating. Forward lines remain the same, but the defensive pairings remain fluid as Claude Julien looks for some blue-line chemistry.
Considering New Jersey’s top-heavy lineup, it’s a good bet that we’ll see Zdeno Chara paired with Seidenberg on Saturday to form a shutdown pairing against Kovy and friends.
* After taking part of yesterday’s practice off to allow the cortisone shot to take effect, Ference was back for the entire session today. Ference said it was a lingering injury from a game last year against Atlanta when his left hand got sandwiched. Ference said the hand shouldn’t be an issue.
* Seidenberg still isn’t sure whether it was the flu or food poisoning that knocked him out of yesterday’s practice. Seidenberg said he’s feeling better.
* New Jersey played with 10 forwards last night. But the Devils should be back to a full lineup on Saturday. Brian Rolston is scheduled to undergo hernia surgery today, and the ex-Bruin is expected to be placed on long-term injured reserve, which will allow the Devils to exceed the cap by his annual number.
