Thomas in goal tonight

Tim Thomas will be gunning for his sixth straight win tonight to open the season. If Thomas gets the win, he’ll tie Tiny Thompson for the best start by a Boston goalie.

“He’s been good for us. He’s really been good,” Claude Julien said. “He’s at the top of his game. He feels great. It’s a long season, so we’ve got a hot goaltender here that we’re probably going to ride tonight.”

* Jason Spezza (groin) will play tonight. Spezza will center Peter Regin and Alex Kovalev.

* Ottawa will be without Milan Michalek (knee) for at least one week. Cory Clouston said the team would be fortunate to get Michalek back in that timeframe.

* Congratulations to director of hockey administration Ryan Nadeau and wife Taryn, who welcomed their second child last night. Kelton Terry Nadeau joins older sister Finley.
