Off-ice work for Bruins

WILMINGTON — Good morning from Ristuccia Arena, where the Bruins will not be skating today. Instead, they are going through off-ice workouts. After last night’s 3-1 loss to the Canadiens, Claude Julien noted that his players didn’t have their legs.

Marc Savard, Johnny Boychuk, Marco Sturm, Tim Thomas, and Tuukka Rask are the only players currently on the ice.

“We just played two in two,” Julien said. “We’ve got 11 games in 19 days starting with the Pittsburgh game. So it’s a heavy schedule. I just felt that last night in the third period, we really looked tired. Somehow you’ve got to put the odds on your side and give those guys a chance to recover. I didn’t think there was much we could have done today that would benefit us in tomorrow’s game.”

* David Krejci exercised today for the first time since last Saturday. Krejci took a ride on the stationary bike. If Krejci responds well to the ride, he will continue working out.

* Boychuk took shots on a goalie today for the first time since Brandon Dubinsky broke his left arm with a slash on Oct. 23. Boychuk was estimated to miss four weeks, so a return next weekend remains possible. Boychuk said he wasn’t sure whether he could play with the cast that is currently on his arm.
