Postgame: Bruins 4, Lightning 3

Mark Recchi was the hero with the game-winning power-play goal. But Brad Marchand was just as deserving of praise after the fourth-line wing’s performance. Marchand scored a goal and drew three penalties after missing the last three games.

“He’s a competitive player,” Recchi said. “He’s a very talented player. He’s got a real good niche on our hockey club now. He competes like a bugger. He gets in their way. He draws penalties because he’s fast and he’s quick. He creates energy for our hockey club. That line’s been wonderful for us all year.”

* Tim Thomas owned up to his gaffe when he nearly coughed up the puck to Adam Hall prior to Recchi’s PPG. After covering the puck, Thomas asked Patrice Bergeron to go score a goal for him. Bergeron assisted on Recchi’s goal.

* As expected, the Lightning didn’t agree with the boarding call on Steven Stamkos. “It’s hockey and he had the puck,” Stamkos said of his collision with Gregory Campbell. “I thought it was shoulder-to-shoulder and the coaches watched it on the replay and they said it was shoulder-to-shoulder. Obviously he went into the boards pretty hard, but by no means was I trying to hurt the guy. From my vantage point, I was coming hard on the backcheck, he had the puck, and my left shoulder hit his right shoulder. So, I don’t know why it was a penalty.”

* Yet another dud from Nathan Horton. Only 11:36 of ice time, fewest all season.
