Julien, Bruins poised to start playoffs

Both the Bruins and the Canadiens have concluded their morning skates at TD Garden. The Bruins went with an optional skate. The Canadiens had full participation.

“We’ll see tonight when the puck is dropped,” said Julien, “but our guys seem like they’re focused and ready to go.”

As Julien and the Bruins have noted repeatedly in the last few days, discipline will be crucial against the Canadiens. The Bruins play a heavy, rugged, physical style. The Canadiens are built around speed and skill. To be successful, the Bruins will have to be tougher than the Canadiens while doing so within the rules.

* Tyler Seguin will be the healthy scratch.

* Julien said he remains in weekly contact with Marc Savard, who remains at home in Peterborough, Ontario. “Things haven’t changed in his case, and it’s unfortunate for him,” Julien said. “I’m sure he’s going to be sitting at home, watching these games, and wishing he could be part of it. Because as a player, that part of you will never leave. This is the most exciting time of the year. I know he loved the times he was in the playoffs. He was obviously a pretty important part of the success of our hockey club. So will we miss his play? Absolutely. You don’t lose an elite player like him and not feel it.”
