McQuaid diagnosed with sprained neck

According to Claude Julien, Adam McQuaid has been diagnosed with a sprained neck. McQuaid is day-to-day, Julien said.

McQuaid was injured at 17:31 of last night’s first period. McQuaid tried to throw a hit on Mike Richards. After he missed, McQuaid tumbled headfirst into the end boards. McQuaid was treated at Jefferson Hospital and traveled with his teammates back to Boston after the 3-2 overtime win.

If McQuaid can’t play in tomorrow’s Game 3, Shane Hnidy would get the nod. Hnidy played in Game 2 of the first round when Zdeno Chara was sidelined because of a virus.

Steven Kampfer, who suffered a knee injury in the final weekend of the AHL season, only resumed skating today, said Julien.
