Final: Bruins 3, Islanders 2

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — All done in Bridgeport. Preseason is over. Let’s start the real stuff.

UPDATE: Chris Clark broke his second during a second-period fight with Micheal Haley. Claude Julien confirmed Lane MacDermid asked Haley to fight in the third. Haley declined.

11:53 3d period: Bruins 3-2
Dennis Seidenberg goes upstairs on Evgeni Nabokov. Terrific speed through center ice by Rich Peverley and Gregory Campbell to create the scoring chance.

0:00 3d period: 2-2
No sign of Chris Clark.

20:00 2d period: 2-2
Better fight from Bruins in second period. Far better period for No. 2 line. Tim Thomas looking solid.

13:48 2d period: 2-2
Tyler Seguin ties it up with point-blank shot. Great wall work by Benoit Pouliot to get Seguin the puck. Bruins want to see more of that from Pouliot.

12:22 2d period: Islanders 2-1
On a two-on-one, David Krejci keeps the puck and snaps in a close-range shot.

12:07 2d period: Islanders 2-0
Chris Clark vs. Micheal Haley. Clark leaking, most likely from early pop. Haley a very tough cookie. Props to Clark for taking Haley on.

8:30 2d period: Islanders 2-0
Fireworks between Brad Marchand and PA Parenteau. Parenteau doesn’t care for a Marchand hit on John Tavares. Some scuffling in front of Tim Thomas.

6:48 2d period: Islanders 2-0
Ex-Bruin Marty Reasoner collects a puck off the end boards and goes upstairs on Tim Thomas. All Isles so far. Winning most puck races.

20:00 1st period: Islanders 1-0
Islanders with 11-8 shot advantage. Not from No. 2 line of Benoit Pouliot, Tyler Seguin, Brad Marchand. Pouliot looks like he’s going to be a serious project.

11:28 1st period: Islanders 1-0
During a five-on-three PP, Tim Thomas stops a Mark Streit blast. But John Tavares scores on the rebound.

5:23 1st period: 0-0
Scoring chance for Benoit Pouliot. Starts with a good dish by Matt Bartkowski in center ice.

0:00 1st period: 0-0
Add Jordan Caron to list of healthy scratches. Interpret that as a good sign for Caron. Bruins bosses have seen enough of Caron to not require more evaluation.
